Ahead of next month's release, Dharma Productions and 20th Century Studios have released new featurettes for Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva, their upcoming fantasy adventure film that will launch the Astraverse, Bollywood's first original cinematic universe that will draw inspiration from deeply rooted concepts and epic tales from Hindu mythology.

The film is expected to be the first entry in a trilogy, telling the tale of the "Astras" (weapons) and the "Brahmastra" (the lord of all weapons), and how the reawakening of these ancient weapons will turn young Shiva's (Kapoor) life on its head. Shiva will be forced to master his own superpower - the ability to manipulate fire - and make a last-ditch effort to save the world from the greatest evil it's ever faced.

Ayan Mukerji (Wake Up SidYeh Jawaani Hai Deewani) helmed the feature, which is said to be one of the most expensive Bollywood films ever produced. Ranbir Kapoor (SanjuAe Dil Hai Mushkil) and Alia Bhatt (Gangubai Kathiawadi; Dear Zindagi), who recently tied the knot in real-life, will star in the lead roles as Shiva and Isha, respectively.

Joining Kapoor and Bhatt are the legendary Amitabh Bachchan (Mohabbatein; Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham) as Guru, Mouni Roy (Gold; K.G.F: Chapter 1) as Junoon, Nagarjuna Akkineni (BangarrajuWild Dog) as Anish, Dimple Kapadia (TenetDabangg 3), Divyendu Sharma (Mere Desh Ki DhartiToilet: Ek Prem Katha), Dhruv Sehgal (Little ThingsModern Love: Mumbai), and Saurav Gurjar (MahabharatWWE NXT).

Global megastar Shah Rukh Khan (Veer-ZaaraDilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge) is also set to make a cameo appearance in the film as a scientist named Mohan, who wields the Vānarāstra.

Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva hits theaters in India and across the globe on September 9.
