FLEISCHER & THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ Comic Strip Makes Its Debut

The concept for this project began with the idea of rewriting L. Frank Baum's first Oz novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which is in the public domain. While that project is making its way through the editing process, the decision was made to adapt it into comic strip form. The script is written by myself, Ed Gross, with art by Matias Festa.

While the movie is off limits — obviously still under Warner Bros. copyright — the novel has many similarities to the film, but there are even more differences. For starters, there's not a song or dance routine to be found anywhere. But you'll find many of the characters there, including the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, Cowardly Lion, the Wicked Witch, Flying Monkeys, and so on. The whole idea is just to have some fun.
