HBO Max has announced that House of the Dragon will debut on the streaming service on Sunday, August 21. That's just a couple of weeks before The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power hits Amazon on September 2, so the end of the summer looks set to be an exciting time for fantasy fans.
Based on George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood, the series, set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen. In the series, we'll learn how they fell into a bitter and brutal civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons, presaging the beginning of the end of the ruling family of Westeros. For Westeros fans, exploring this on screen is an exciting prospect.
House of the Dragon stars Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, Fabien Frankel, and Rhys Ifans.
Other cast members include Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes, and Savannah Steyn. Needless to say, HBO Max has netted some great talents here.
As well as dropping a poster hyping up House of the Dragon's premiere date, HBO Max has also shared some new stills from the series highlighting the show's lead characters.
