Warner Bros. Discovery boss Davis Zazlav confirmed plans to revisit both the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings franchises late last year when he took over as head of the studio, and we've heard rumors about several different projects since.
Now, Bloomberg is reporting that a Harry Potter reboot series is officially in development for the HBO Max streaming service.
Apparently, the show would re-adapt J.K. Rowling's best-selling fantasy saga, with each season focusing on one instalment in the seven-book series.
Rowling will be involved with the project "so she can “ensure it remains loyal to her original material,” but she is not expected to be appointed as showrunner.
Though we're still awaiting confirmation from HBO, several major outlets have run with the story, so we'd say it's legit.
Though fans will no doubt be excited by the prospect of a return to the Wizarding World, we can see the fact that this series will reboot the much-loved movies being highly divisive.
