With the Fantastic Beasts franchise proving to be a critical and commercial disappointment for Warner Bros., the studio is now returning to the drawing board in an effort to figure out where to take Harry Potter next. There's been talk of a reboot, TV shows, and even a big screen adaptation of The Cursed Child

The latter was produced as a play and served as a sequel to J.K. Rowling's original novels, picking up with Harry, Ron, and Hermoine as adults (while shifting the focus to their children).

Despite the fact Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have shown little interest in reprising their respective roles as they look to move forward with their careers, Grint has now admitted that he would be open to returning as Ron down the line.

Talking on UK chat show This Morning, the actor said: "Yeah, I think if the timing was right and everyone was kinda coming back I’d definitely revisit it. It’s a character that’s important to me. I kinda grew up and we kinda became the same person. I feel quite protective of him as well."

Clearly, he'd only come back if he's joined by Radcliffe and Watson. It certainly doesn't sound like Grint is angling for an invite, though, and the question was whether he'd play Ron again if asked. We find it hard to imagine him dismissing the notion, but the actor has actually started finding great success in his own right away from the Wizarding World.

It took him perhaps a little longer than his co-stars, but in recent years, he's definitely impressed with performances in the likes of ServantGuillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities, and the upcoming Knock at the Cabin (based on early buzz).

Only time will tell what comes next for Harry Potter, but Warner Bros. is unlikely to sit on the franchise for very long.
