A new trailer for Warner Bros.' Greta Gerwig-directed Barbie movie debuted online earlier this week, and despite featuring plenty of new footage, it didn't really give us any more of an indication of what to expect from the story.

We know the movie, which is based on the iconic Mattel fashion doll line, will focus on various iterations of Barbie and Ken living in a colourful alternate "Barbie Land" universe of some sort, and the final moments of the trailer suggest that the main duo, played by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, will enter the "real world" at some point.

That's about all we have to go on, and Robbie wasn't about to disclose any more details while speaking to BAFTA (via Variety). She did, however, hint that the movie might be even more unique and out-there than we realize.

“The first time I read the ‘Barbie’ script, my reaction was, ‘Ah! This is so good. What a shame it will never see the light of day because they are never going to let us make this movie,’” said The Suicide Squad star. “But they did.”

When asked if she could elaborate, Robbie replied: “Can’t tell ya!”

Consider us intrigued! Barbie is set to hit theaters on July 19. Have another look at the trailer below and let us know what you think.
