Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is now in theaters in The UK and several other international locations, but if you won't manage to catch the movie until this weekend, be warned that major spoilers are in full effect from this point on.

When the movie was shooting, rumors that several supporting characters from previous Indy adventures did the rounds online. The most persistent reports claimed that Short Round (Ke Huy Quan) was set to reunite with the legendary archaeologist, but as we began to learn more about the story, Temple of Doom's kid sidekick showing up began to look increasingly unlikely.

Unfortunately, Short Round doesn't appear, but Dial of Destiny does bring back a couple of Indy's old friends to give the iconic hero a proper send-off.

John Rhys-Davies reprises his role as Sallah from Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. He only features in a few scenes before Jones sets off to retrieve the Antikythera, but returns at the end to see how Indy is feeling after his brush with death.

Sallah's involvement was never a secret, of course, but we do get one surprise cameo when Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen) returns to her estranged husband to give their marriage another go. They share a kiss after re-enacting the "where doesn't it hurt" scene from Raiders, bringing Doctor Henry "Indiana" Jones' story to an emotional, satisfying conclusion.

The movie also stars Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory), John Rhys-Davies (Raiders of the Lost Ark), Shaunette Renee Wilson (Black Panther), Thomas Kretschmann (Das Boot), Toby Jones (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Boyd Holbrook (Logan), Oliver Richters (Black Widow), and Ethann Isidore (Mortel).

Directed by James Mangold, the film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas serving as executive producers. John Williams, who has worked on each Indy adventure since the original Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981, once again composed the score.
