After delivering another billion-dollar blockbuster last summer, it sounds like director Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World: DominionJurassic World) has found his next big-budget adventure: Atlantis.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that director Trevorrow has teamed with Skydance to develop an original feature film based on the lost city of Atlantis. House of the Dragon screenwriter and executive producer Charmaine DeGraté (The 100Chambers) will pen the script.

Further details are currently unavailable, but the film was previously in development at Universal, before they changed course and handed it over to Trevorrow and Skydance. The original draft was written by Dante Harper (Alien: Covenant), but it's believed that DeGraté and Trevorrow have since reimagined the story, although it remains an epic fantasy adventure that will reveal the previously untold tale of how the ancient city was lost.

However, whether its demise was due to the elements, ancient Gods, or a man-made disaster remains to be seen.

With the script in active development, we'd imagine Atlantis will head into production sometime in 2024, but we wouldn't necessarily be surprised if cameras start rolling before the end of this calendar year.
