PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow Returns As An Unbelievably Realistic Hot Toys Figure

Johnny Depp's performance as Captain Jack Sparrow is nothing short of iconic, and with the actor's messy divorce from Amber Heard behind him, some believe he'll soon make a mainstream Hollywood comeback.

Rumours have swirled about Depp perhaps returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise (at least in a supporting role) for years, and the character is now taking centre stage as an incredibly detailed Hot Toys 1/6th scale figure from the company's DX series.

Inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the Captain Jack Sparrow figure, "features a styled beard, the iconic dreadlocked and braid hairstyle...on a highly-accurate head sculpt with an impeccably realistic likeness."

"In addition to his signature smirk, a serious expression is available to capture more on-screen moments. Both face sculpts feature separate rolling eyeballs to further enrich the realism."

"His [detailed] appearance is complete with a finely tailored fabric costume," continues the description, "including a long coat, shirt, patterned vest, genuine leather made belts and long boots. A veritable armory of weapons and accessories is also provided, such as the saber, flintlock pistols and an LED-lighted lantern."

Both deluxe versions include a diorama base meticulously crafted to resemble a segment of the Black Pearl and a treasure chest.

What's the difference between the two figures? Well, the "Artisan Edition" is limited to 4,000 pieces worldwide and features "wool hair implantation [consisting] of an elaborate arrangement of braids and dreadlocks, showcasing intricate woven techniques that bring these textured locks to life."

As best we can tell, they're otherwise the same, though that hair makes a big difference to collectors looking for realism. There will also be a third, slightly cheaper, version of the figure minus many of the accessories listed above.

Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer was recently asked about plans for the series and whether he expects a sixth movie, or a third Top Gun, to be his next project.

"It's hard to tell. You don't know, you really don't know," he started. "You don't know how they come together. You just don't know. Because with Top Gun you have an actor who is iconic and brilliant. And how many movies he does before he does Top Gun, I can't tell you. But we're gonna reboot Pirates, so that is easier to put together because you don't have to wait for certain actors."
