As The Little Mermaid's release date draws near, Disney has shared a final trailer for its latest live-action reimagining, and it's made up almost entirely of brand-new footage.
This teaser mostly focuses on Ariel (Halle Bailey) making her fateful deal with Ursula the Sea Witch (Melissa McCarthy), who tricks the naive teen into giving up her voice for three days while she attempts to get Prince Eric to fall in love with her.
We also have another clip featuring Ursula singing "Poor Unfortunate Souls."
In addition, a second round of social media reactions have been shared online following last night's press screening, and these are quite a bit more positive than the mixed verdicts from the movie's world premiere.
The Little Mermaid is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters, and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea, and while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric.
While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch, Ursula, which gives her a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately places her life – and her father’s crown – in jeopardy.
The movie is set to swim into theaters on May 26, 2023.
