The Odyssey's IMAX Limited-Edition Popcorn Bucket Pays Perfect Tribute To Christopher Nolan

The IMAX limited edition popcorn bucket for The Odyssey is inspired more by director Christopher Nolan's filmmaking and less by the movie itself. But it's still amazing!

The IMAX limited-edition popcorn bucket for Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic The Odyssey isn't your typical branded concession item. Rather than drawing on the film's mythology, IMAX went a completely different direction.

Whereas most of these specialty popcorn buckets draw inspiration from the movies they are created for, the The Odyssey's bucket is instead modeled after the IMAX 15/65mm Camera.

At first glance, it probably feels like a weird choice, but when you think about the director of the film, it makes perfect sense. Christopher Noalan has called the IMAX 15/65mm Camera "the Gold Standard" of filmmaking, and he's used it across many of his blockbuster movies, including The Dark Knight, Interstellar, and now The Odyssey.

In fact, The Odyssey is the first feature film ever shot entirely on IMAX cameras, making this popcorn bucket even more fitting for the epic film. The collectible leans more into the history of filmmaking, as shooting an entire film on IMAX cameras is a milestone that Nolan has been working toward for nearly two decades.

So what does it actually look like? Check it out below!

It's not just designed to look like the camera either. It actually features a viewfinder that lights up to reveal a scene from The Odyssey in IMAX's exclusive 1:43:1 Expanded Aspect Ratio.

The Odyssey IMAX Film Camera Popcorn Bucket is sold for $50 and will begin shipping on July 3. The only problem is it's currently sold on on the IMAX website.

I'm sure there will be additional popcorn buckets designed for The Odyssey. There are rumors that a second bucket is being designed in the style of the Trojan horse, but that one hasn't been revealed yet.

Christopher Nolan’s next film, The Odyssey, is a mythic action epic shot across the world using brand new IMAX® film technology. The film brings Homer’s foundational saga to IMAX® film screens for the first time and opens in theaters everywhere on July 17, 2026.

The Odyssey is set to release in theaters on July 17, 2026. It was officially confirmed this week that the movie will be rated R, and carry a whopping $250 million budget. While this is one of the most expensive R-rated movies ever made, I can't imagine it won't be packing theaters upon release.
