We've seen various different takes on Trolls over the years (in The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, 2018's bizarre Border), but the original Nordic/Scandinavian folklore depicted the mythological creatures as grotesque giants living in mountainous regions who turned to stone when exposed to sunlight.

This appears to be the basis for Netflix's upcoming monster movie - although the titular Troll is practically Kaiju-sized!

Check out a new poster below, along with a previously released teaser.

Directed by Roar Uthaug (2018's Tomb Raider), Troll is produced by Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud and stars Ine Marie Wilmann, Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, Kim Falck, Gard B. Eidsvold, and Pål Richard Lunderby.

"Deep inside the mountain of Dovre, something gigantic awakens after being trapped for a thousand years. Destroying everything in its path, the creature is fast approaching the capital of Norway. But how do you stop something you thought only existed in Norwegian folklore?"

Troll is set for release on December 1.
