Appearing on the Pod Meets World podcast, which is hosted by Boy Meets World alums Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong, Melissa Joan Hart revealed the worst day of her life, which occurred during the premiere of the 1999 rom-com Drive Me Crazy.
Joan Hart co-starred in the film, which was headlined by Britney Spears.
Earlier that day, Hart had just broken up with her boyfriend and had been waiting for over an hour to walk the red carpet for the premiere because Britney Spears was running late.
"I had to wait on the red carpet. They wanted me to wait in my car for like an hour for Britney to show up so we could do photos together. And I was like, ‘Can I just go, start doing the press?’ [They were like,] ‘Nope, You’ve got to wait for Britney.'"
She didn't even get to stay for the premiere because she was supposed to fly out for a film a role in Scary Movie but got the news on the way to the airport that she had been replaced by Carmen Electra.
"I was supposed to be the opening, vivacious, big-breasted one that’s like murdered or something in the beginning."
Hart then turned around and went to the afterparty for Drive Me Crazy, where her lawyer informed her that she was being sued by Archie Comics and fired from Sabrina the Teenage Witch because of a scantily-clad cover for the latest issue of Maxim.
"My lawyer shows up and goes, ‘You did a photo shoot for Maxim magazine?' I’m like: ‘Yes, I did.’ They’re like, ‘Well, you’re being sued and fired from your show, so don’t talk to the press, don’t do anything.'"
It turns out Hart had a clause in her contract with Archie Comics and the sitcom that stated that she couldn't appear nude in character as Sabrina, and the Maxim cover for her photoshoot read, "Sabrina, your favorite witch without a stitch."
The suit was eventually dropped once all parties determined that Hart couldn't be held liable for a headline that she had no control over.
Still, that's a rough 24 hours, to say the least.
However, the now 47-year-old actress looked back on the ordeal while laughing as she retold the story on the podcast.
