With reshoots now underway in The UK, the first photos from the set of Disney's Snow White live-action reimagining have been shared online (via the Daily Mail), and they have already stirred up plenty of conversation!

The shots were initially beliueve to feature star Rachel Zegler (Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Westside Story) in the titular Disney princess' classic red and yellow costume, but on closer inspection, this appears to be her stand in. The photos show Snow White waving goodbye to her seven... regular-sized companions?

We had heard that director Marc Webb and writers Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson had made a few changes to the original story, with Disney confirming the plan to "avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film [by] taking a different approach with these seven characters."

As you can see, there only appears to be one little person, with the rest of the group made up of a diverse cast of men and women. Previous reports have indicated that the Dwarfs will be replaced with "magical creatures" of some description, but these guys all look pretty human to us. Maybe CGI will be used to alter their appearance?

There's also been some debate as to the validity of these images, but, as far as we can tell, they were taken during legitimate reshoots for the film in Bedfordshire.

Check out the snaps at the link below.

Gal Gadot is also on board as the Evil Queen, with Andrew Burnap, who can be seen in the set photos, playing the new character named Jonathan. Martin Klebba is playing Grumpy, but doesn't appear to be in any of the above photos.

Snow White is set to hit theaters next March.

Is there some reason why they have to be dwarfs?

@Forthas - That’s… literally the title of the story. It’s not “Snow White and the Twelve Centaurs”—if it was and the actors were dressed in fairy wings instead of horse bodies, people would think that was a weird choice too.

@EarlChai - That is the title of the fairy tale...not this movie. There have been many iterations of Dracula that do not align with the book.

@Forthas - Lol, Dracula is probably the novel I’ve reread the most times. I even listened to a podcast that posted episodes each day the events take place. (Highly recommended, BTW. Look up Cryptic Canticles.) And I will FOREVER be frustrated that no movie/tv adaptation has ever been remotely close to the book! They either combine characters or change up the relationships or add stupid reincarnation subplots that completely miss the whole point of the story! There’s a video on YouTube going through all the adaptations trying to find which is closest, it’s that bad.

But you’re moving the goalposts. “Why does the story have to include dwarfs?” Because that’s how the story goes. “Well that’s not how this adaptation is going.” Yes, and that’s why people are objecting—because the movie is needlessly changing a core part of the story.
