In the latest episode of The Wheel of Time season 3, Perrin has finally started to embrace his role as a leader and at the same time, actor Marcus Rutherford has finally gotten the chance to stretch his 'acting' muscles, so to speak.

Speaking on this with WotSeries.com, Rutherford stated, " I knew it was an arc that I’ve been kind of playing towards, and been kind of restricting a level of confidence or ferocity or flirty nature —  whatever he’s doing in the previous seasons, because I knew a lot of it kind of comes out in this third season."

"And I think I was going through The Dragon Reborn and even the first introductions of Faile and then The Shadow Rising, and I think what’s so lovely about this episode is there’s so many elements that I wanted to put in."

"When Faile kind of pulls on his beard or when he’s with some of the younger lads in the village and he almost can see himself when he started off being a young lad in a village. There’s moments with Loial or there’s moments with Alanna that just mirror what’s in the in the books."

Despite significant alterations to Perrin's backstory in season 1 and 2, as well as concerns about the potential absence of his Wolf Dream abilities, the introduction of Faile (Isabella Bucceri) and their developing relationship in Season 3 has been a welcome development for some viewers, as it offers a potential path to returning Perrin's storyline to the books' narrative.

While Marcus Rutherford's portrayal is generally praised, fan reception to Perrin remains mixed, with some accepting the show's deviations from the source material and others finding the changes detrimental and trope heavy.

The future exploration of his relationship with Faile and his Wolfbrother abilities will be definitely be crucial in shaping ongoing fan opinions.

The question now, is if Rutherford will get the chance? Will Prime Video renew The Wheel of Time for season 4?

It seems as if it's too early to tell but the first reviews for the latest season currently have the epic fantasy saga poised for greatness.

Over on Rotten Tomatoes, the first season has an 81% approval rating while the second season secured a modest bump, up to 86%.

Currently, season 3 of The Wheel of Time has an approval rating of 94% from 17 reviews, with an average critic rating of 7.8 out of 10.

Showrunner Rafe Judkins previously teased that season 3 would more closely follow the books than the first two seasons, and so far, he appears to be a man of his word.

In a previous interview Judkins stated, "This season in a lot of ways I think, it's the closest adaptation of one of the books that we've had so far."

He added, "We get to put up some of my favorite scenes from the books.  Some of them are huge, like Rand declaring himself Car'a'carn in the Aiel Waste and some of them are small. There's this really intimate little scene with Matt and Siuan the Amarin seat, where he has to turn over the Horn of Valere to her that's just beautiful in the books."

"So we get to do some things big and some things small that are really from the books this season and follows the story lines pretty closely."
