We're not sure what to make of this rumour, but self-proclaimed scooper Daniel Richtman is claiming that two huge names may be added to the cast of House of the Dragon for its second season.
Those are Henry Cavill (Justice League, Mission: Impossible - Fallout) and Elizabeth Olsen (WandaVision, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness). There's no word on who they would play, though adding two bona fide Hollywood A-Listers to the Game of Thrones prequel for its second season would be a huge move on HBO's part.
We find it hard to believe Cavill will have the time given his current fantasy commitments to Netflix's The Witcher, while Olsen remains committed to the MCU. However, with the Scarlet Witch sidelined after the Doctor Strange sequel, she could potentially squeeze a recurring role in.
Remember, rumour has it Cavill has been offered the chance to play Hyperion in Loki season 2, but it's possible that's already been shot.
There continue to be rumblings that the British actor is set to reprise the role of Superman in the DC Extended Universe, though we can't imagine him returning as the Man of Steel, joining the MCU, and taking a trip to Westeros. Olsen, however, seems a little more likely considering the fact she has relatively few upcoming projects after wrapping work on Love and Death.
Some fans have argued that either actor showing up in House of the Dragon would feel a tad gimmicky, but we'd love to see what either Cavill or Olsen could bring to the table here. Whether it will happen is another matter, and it's probably going to be a while before any official season 2 news is announced.
The first season of House of the Dragon is currently airing on HBO, with the third episode dropping yesterday. Season 2 has been confirmed, but doesn't have a premiere date.
