Cameras continue to roll on House of the Dragon season 2, and a new report from The Daily Post reveals some of the actors currently on set in Penmon, North Wales. Most are who you would expect, though there is a surprise return that could be considered a mild spoiler.
According to the site, John MacMillan (Laenor Velaryon) has been spotted alongside Emma D'Arcy (Rhaenyra Targaryen) and Steve Toussaint (Corlys Velaryon).
We last saw him in a rowboat heading to parts unknown alongside his lover Ser Qarl Correy, enabling Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen's rise to power. It didn't sound like we'd ever see Laenor again, with the fact he'd faked his death clearly meant to take him off the table.
The fact he's back isn't good news, anyway, as Rhaenyra used her husband's apparent demise to make her enemies believe she was capable of killing even the man she loves to gain political power.
As for where this could be heading, it should be pointed out that George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood (the basis for this Game of Thrones prequel) revealed that Laenor's lover, Ser Qarl, killed him after he became enamoured with a young male soldier. However, it was strongly hinted that Daemon was somehow responsible.
Other characters spotted on set included Alyn and Addam of Hull, portrayed by Abubakar Salim and Clinton Liberty, respectively.
HBO and HBO Max content CEO Casey Bloys has previously said that 2024 "is a good guess" when it comes to the show's return but refused to get too specific. He did, however, note that the show is unlikely to be eligible for the 2024 Emmy season (its eligibility period ends on May 31, 2024), so we'd bet on a Summer/Fall 2024 debut.
There's certainly a lot of excitement after the stellar first season, anyway, and we'll let you know if and when set photos begin doing the rounds online.
Stay tuned for updates on House of the Dragon as we have them.
