Over the course of its four seasons, Stranger Things has become one of the biggest shows (streaming or otherwise) of the past few years, and after multiple exciting, fantastical, and sometimes pretty damn scary, adventures in the Upside-down, the series will soon conclude with its fifth and final season.
Though the show boasts a strong ensemble cast, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) was always positioned as the principal protagonist, and the unstable psychic teen is usually at the forefront of each season's main storylines.
Brown recently admitted that she's "ready" for Stranger Things to end so that she can move on to other projects and the next phase of her life when asked how she feels about the Netflix series finishing up, and has once again made it clear that she will not mourn the show's imminent conclusion.
“When you’re ready, you’re like, ‘All right, let’s do this. Let’s tackle this last senior year. Let’s get out of here,’” Brown said during an interview with Glamour Magazine (conducted prior to the strikes). “Stranger Things takes up a lot of time to film and it’s preventing me from creating stories that I’m passionate about. So I’m ready to say, ‘Thank you, and goodbye.’”
Elsewhere in the interview, Brown spoke about the backlash she faced during the early Stranger Things press tours for supposedly “trying to steal the thunder” of her co-stars by talking over them. Brown reveals that adults called her “an idiot,” “stupid” and “a brat.”
“We’re kids — we talk over each other,” she said. “I was just penalized for over-talking and oversharing and being too loud. It’s hard to hear that at 13. You’re like, ‘I don’t want to ever talk again. I don’t want to be the loud person… In interviews, I couldn’t help but think of all the comments. So I just remembered to stay silent and speak when I was spoken to, even though I was dying to join in. I just felt it wasn’t my turn.”
In the season 4 finale, Eleven and her friends managed to defeat the evil entity known as Vecna, but at great cost. Eddie is killed, and Max is left blind, broken and in a coma.
Vecna - who was ultimately revealed to be the deranged Henry Creel - was vanquished, but It was only a temporary victory, as the concluding moments of the episode confirmed that dark forces in the Upside-down are amassing for what will almost certainly be a massive final battle.
Are you up to date with Stranger Things? If so, what do you hope to see from this final season? No premiere date has been set, but we should learn more shortly after the SAG-AFTRA strike come to an end.
