One Piece is right around the corner, and Netflix (via AnimeMojo.com) has just shared some character posters for the series focusing on the iconic Straw Hats.

In the streamer's live-action adaptation, we'll meet Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy), a rubber-skinned teenager who sets out to become King of the Pirates. As he conquers the sea, Luffy recruits a ragtag crew of misfits to join him onboard, including Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), Nami (Emily Rudd), Usopp (Jacob Romero), and Sanji (Taz Skylar).

Calling themselves the Straw Hats, Luffy and his gang sail from island to island in search of the mysterious One Piece treasure. Of course, no adventure is smooth sailing. On their quest, the Straw Hats run into dangerous rivals who stand in their way of hitting the jackpot.

It's that quintet which takes centre stage on these posters and, for fans of the franchise, we'd say these designs do the classic characters justice.

One Piece also stars Vincent Regan, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino, Morgan Davies, Aidan Scott, Langley Kirkwood, Jeff Ward, Celeste Loots, Alexander Maniatis, McKinley Belcher III, Craig Fairbrass, Steven Ward, and Chioma Umeala.

One of the most iconic manga series ever made, One Piece first debuted in 1997 and has since gone on to outsell the likes of Dragon Ball and Naruto. In fact, author Eiichiro Oda has sold 516.5 million worth of books, making him the 10th bestselling fiction writer of all time.

As an executive producer on the new series, he played an important role in the entire adaptation process, from casting to post-production. The series was created in partnership with Shueisha and is produced by Tomorrow Studios and Netflix. Matt Owens and Steven Maeda are writers, executive producers, and showrunners, with Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements joining Oda as executive producers.

One Piece premieres on Netflix on August 31.
