There's a lot of excitement for Disney+'s Percy Jackson and the Olympians, especially as the movies failed to deliver the sort of faithful take on the source material many fans of the books had hoped for.
Now, we have the first teaser poster for the show and it confirms we'll be paying a visit to Camp Half-Blood. That's a Greek demigod training facility located on the north shore of Long Island, and somewhere we anticipate spending a great deal of time in this latest adaptation of author Rick Riordan's hit novels.
As for the gladiator helmet which rests beneath the flag, it sports a blue plume likely representing Percy's Godly lineage (he's the son of Poseidon).
Shooting on season 1 wrapped up back in February, meaning Percy Jackson and the Olympians is now in post-production. We're getting a total of eight episodes adapting the events of The Lightning Thief, and this poster hopefully means that a trailer for the series is right around the corner.
Riordan has also confirmed work is underway on season 2, though cautioned at the time it hasn't been officially green-lit...yet.
Based on Disney Hyperion's best-selling book series, the series tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who's just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt.
With help from his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians also stars Aryan Simhadri, Leah Sava Jeffries, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally, Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Timm Sharp, Olivea Morton, Dior Goodjohn, Charlie Bushnell, and WWE Superstar Edge.
The series is still expected to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2024.
