There's a huge amount of excitement for Percy Jackson and the Olympians among fans of the best-selling series of books, especially as the movies starring Logan Lerman didn't quite manage to do author Rick Riordan's work justice.
This sneak peek sees young Percy setting out on a search for Zeus' master lightning bolt, with his cross-country trip bringing him into contact with everyone from Ares (WWE Superstar Edge) to the main man, Zeus, himself (played by the late Lance Riddick).
The first two episodes are set to premiere on Wednesday, December 20, though we anticipate that possibly changing seeing as both Ahsoka and Loki have moved to Tuesday nights. That appears to be a new strategy on Disney+'s part to ensure these shows can be enjoyed at prime time rather than in the early hours.
Riordan - whose books have sold more than 100 million copies worldwide - worked closely with the creative team and showrunners Jon Steinberg and Dan Shotz to bring his books to life and deliver a series that stays true to his vision for these heroic characters that millions of book fans know and love. The first two episodes were written by Riordan and Steinberg and directed by James Bobin.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who's just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god, Zeus, accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. With help from his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.
