There's a lot of excitement for the upcoming Percy Jackson and the Olympians series coming to Disney+, but it's all too easy to forget that there was a time that role belonged to Logan Lerman. Now, Walker Scobell is taking over as the beloved fantasy character, so how does his predecessor feel about passing the baton?
Talking at the premiere of his latest movie, Bullet Train, Lerman made it clear that he's looking forward to seeing this fresh take on the franchise.
"I’m really excited. I’m curious to see it," the actor says in the video below. "I think everything I’ve seen so far peripherally about casting, how they’re doing it, and that Rick Riordian is running it, it just makes me happy." Lerman would go on to debunk recent rumours that he will be part of the Percy Jackson reboot, so these comments are about as far as his involvement go.
Becky Riordan, the wife of Percy Jackson and the Olympians novelist Rick Riordan, would later take to Twitter to share her response, saying: "Super sweet! Thanks Logan! Fans, when he says 'I’m not' this is true. Please stop asking this talented actor if he is in our show! I know, I know, I too dream of Percy saying to his father 'Why do you look like the guy from that movie?' Sadly this is not happening."
So, in case it wasn't already clear, Lerman won't be in this Disney+ reboot!
Based on Disney Hyperion's best-selling book series, the series tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who's just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt.
With help from his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians also stars Aryan Simhadri, Leah Sava Jeffries, Jason Mantzoukas, Megan Mullally, Virginia Kull (The Big Bend), Glynn Turman, Timm Sharp, Olivea Morton, Dior Goodjohn, and Charlie Bushnell. Here's the latest on when the series arrives on Disney+.
