Marvel Studios and Lucasfilm debuted several teasers for upcoming MCU and Star Wars movies/TV shows during yesterday's D23 presentation, but one trailer that got a bit lost in the shuffle was a brand-new sneak peek at the Willow Disney+ series.
Set 20 years after the events of Ron Howard's original fantasy adventure, this follow-up will focus on the titular Nelwyn wizard (the returning Warwick Davis), his daughter (Davis real-life daughter Annabelle) and a new group of adventurers as they embark on a journey to "correct the balance" between good and evil.
Joanne Whalley will reprise her role as villain-turned-hero Sorsha from the 1988 movie, and she joins previously announced leads Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori, Cailee Spaeny and Erin Kellyman, and Rosabell Laurenti Sellers.
In addition, Davis announced that Christian Slater (Mr. Robot, Young Guns 2) has joined the ensemble, but didn't reveal which role he'll play (his character doesn't appear in the trailer).
The story began with an aspiring magician from a Nelwyn village and an infant girl destined to unite the realms, who together helped destroy an evil queen and banish the forces of darkness. Now, in a magical world where brownies, sorcerers, trolls, and other mystical creatures flourish, the adventure continues, as an unlikely group of heroes set off on a dangerous quest to places far beyond their home, where they must face their inner demons and come together to save their world.
Willow is set to premiere on November 30.
