Charlie Vickers quickly grabbed the attention of fans in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, though it didn't take long before Halbrand was singled out as a potential candidate for Sauron. As the series progressed, that seemed less likely as the apparent King of the Southlands showed what appeared to be a truly heroic nature.
By the time the finale rolled around, we learned Sauron really had been hiding in plain sight the entire time, with Halbrand explaining that he wanted to recruit Galadriel to his cause. While it seemed the villain had been planning to leave Middle-earth behind, being pulled back into the conflict ultimately reignited his desire to rule.
Sauron's story will continue to play out in the show's second season, but it seems Vickers isn't content with playing just the one bad guy.
Talking to ComicBook.com, he shares his hopes to take a crack at Batman villain Mr. Freeze. "All characters, villains or heroes, are interesting to me if they're complex and if they excite me," the actor explained. "But there are so many iconic villains that it would be amazing to play. There's nothing in particular."
"I'd love to one day - I remember when I was a kid, I went to a theme park - and Mr. Freeze was there, and I think he picked me - they were doing a Batman show, like a parade - he picked me up and ran with me," Vickers recalled. "It was terrifying. I was so scared, and ever since I've thought, it'd be cool to play Mr. Freeze in some kind of contemporary, realistic, very sort of dark adaptation. But I mean, that's a long way down the line, but that'd be cool."
We know The Batman director Matt Reeves is developing a possible slate of projects revolving around Gotham City's greatest villains, so why not give Vickers a shot at Mr. Freeze? He's clearly a talented actor, though it will be The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2 that proves just how good he is at playing a bad guy.
On that note, here's a very cool piece of fan art teasing his role as Sauron:
