Fantasy readers have a few new titles to add to their lists. Yen Press announced a batch of new licenses yesterday at MCM London Comic Con, and several of them are fantasy stories built around reincarnation, revenge, cursed dungeons, and lost technology. The highlights include a fantasy romance about a wizard who wakes up a century after her death, and an audiobook of Scarlet, the novel tied to Mamoru Hosoda's 2025 animated film.
A Wizard Who Wakes Up 100 Years Late
And Thus, the Wizard Noi Garene Became a Bride 100 Years Later is a new light novel with a clever setup. Noi Garene is the greatest wizard in the Kingdom of Ethria. When the vessel destined to host the Demon Lord turns out to be an orphaned boy, she takes him in, names him Kaldia, and raises him as her apprentice while searching for a way to stop the Demon Lord from emerging.
When the day finally comes, Noi gives up her life to save him. She then opens her eyes a hundred years later to find a man who looks startlingly like Kaldia proposing to her. Yen Press summed it up with the line "Her apprentice is a marriage-minded Dark Lord?!"
Scarlet Comes To Audiobook
The biggest name on the list is Scarlet. Hosoda, the director behind Summer Wars, Wolf Children, and Belle, took a darker turn with this story, which draws on Hamlet. Princess Scarlet's life is upended when her uncle Claudius seizes the throne and executes her father, the king. She swears revenge and fails.
She then wakes in the land of the dead, a wasteland where fallen soldiers from across history fight day after day and the weak simply cease to exist. There she meets Hijiri, a registered nurse from present-day Japan, and the two set out to make sure her enemies never find salvation. Here is the announcement:
Dungeons, Guns, And Second Chances
My Yandere Girlfriend Hiding in the Dungeon Kills Me Over and Over Again is a new manga about Kiska, a man accused of a crime he did not commit and banished to the deepest level of a high-level dungeon. Just before a monster kills him, he gets a skill called "Save and Reset," and the title makes it clear his rescue comes with some serious complications.
'Cause I'm Freedom! is also getting an audiobook. Faye Leonheart is a 17-year-old sword prodigy and heir to the strongest warrior clan, but she comes home from three years of training with a magical machine gun instead. After her family disowns her, she sets out to study overgear, an ancient technology buried in the world's ruins. Yen Press pitched it with the line "THE GUN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD!"
Cross-Dressing Villainess Cecilia Sylvie: Extra Round! rounds out the fantasy picks. The bonus volume collects short stories set after the original series, including an "Oscar's Route" set at Vleugel Academy and an alternate "Gilbert's Route" that follows what happens if Cecilia falls for Gilbert instead. That branch sends her to a masquerade tied to the Prosper Kingdom's underworld.

The publisher's London announcements also included the horror manga About a Place in the Kinki Region, a deluxe omnibus of Yoshiki Tonogai's Secret, the cat-curse comedy My Childhood Friend Meows Under the Skirt, and the BL titles Summer Boy Blues and Is the Hot-Voiced Streamer Into Me?!
