HBO's upcoming Dune prequel series, The Sisterhood, has added another new cast member, with former Vikings actor Travis Fimmel on board as a mysterious new character who's believed to be the villain of the piece.

According to Variety, Fimmel will play the make lead Desmond Hart, who is described as “a charismatic soldier with an enigmatic past, who seeks to gain the Emperor’s trust at the expense of the Sisterhood.”

Fimmel joins Emily Watson, Shirley Henderson and Indira Varma as the show's leads, and more recent additions Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Faoileann Cunningham, Aoife Hinds and Chloe Lea in key supporting roles.

The Sisterhood is set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, and follows the Harkonnen Sisters, played by Watson and Henderson, as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect known as the Bene Gesserit.

Diane Ademu-John is on board as creator, writer, co-showrunner and executive producer, with Alison Schapker serving as co-showrunner and EP. Johan Renck will direct the premiere episode and executive produce, while Dune Parts 1 and 2 director Denis Villeneuve is also executive producing.

No premiere date has been announced.
