The first set photos from George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road prequel, Furiosa, have been revealed and they offer a first look at a completely unrecognisable Chris Hemsworth. With a red beard and long red hair, along with a prosthetic nose, the actor looks a far cry from the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Thor!

It now appears Hemsworth is definitely playing Immortan Joe, albeit a version who has yet to transform into the monstrous being we've seen in the past.

Interestingly, some surprise additions to the movie were also spotted, as the Thor: Love and Thunder star's wife Elsa Pataky, their twin sons Tristan and Sasha, daughter India Rose, and Chris' father Craig Hemsworth, will all have roles in Furiosa. How key they will be to the story remains to be seen, but they certainly seem to be having fun in this post-apocalyptic wasteland.

Angus Sampson, who played The Organic Mechanic in Mad Max: Fury Road was also spotted, as was new addition Ian Roberts. Alongside them were a bunch of extras and vehicles, all decked out in the sort of costumes you'd expect from this franchise (which has thus far comprised of Mad Max (1979), The Road Warrior (1981), Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (1985), and Fury Road).

"As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus," reads a recently released synopsis. "Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home."

As noted, shooting recently started on Furiosa, and it's currently set to be released in theaters on May 24, 2024.
