The Jurassic World movies have proven to be critic-proof (the previous entries in the franchise earned obscene amounts of money for Universal), and it looks like Dominion is going to continue the trend.

The "epic conclusion to the Jurassic saga" (we'll see about that) received a pretty sound bashing from the majority of critics, currently sitting as a rather dismal 31% on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences don't seem to have paid much attention, though, because the movie has gotten off to a very impressive start at the international box office.

According to Variety, the Colin Trevorrow-helmed dino-disaster flick took in a healthy $95.1 million overseas, along with a strong $18 million from Thursday previews domestically. Cuurent estimates point to the movie earning $125 million in its first weekend of release in U.S. theaters.

Further solidifying the fact that fans have been enjoying Dominion a lot more than critics is the film's A- CinemaScore.

UPDATE: The movie actually exceeded expectations with a $142 million domestic debut.
