As we pointed out in our review, Lightyear is an absolute blast and a movie that definitely does this beloved Space Ranger justice. It's not exactly a spoiler to say Buzz saves the day by the time all is said and done, but that's not where the story concludes. The Pixar movie features three post-credits scenes, and you'll have to wait right until the very, very end to see them all.

The first drops right in the middle of the credits and catches up with Commander Burnside sitting in his office working as one of the planet's giant insects closes in. However, it gets zapped by the force field he was determined to build earlier in the movie; needless to say, he's extremely pleased with himself.

The second is similarly light-hearted and finds ERIC the robot finally mapping out the correct route for Buzz and his team to take in order to get to a nearby hanger and hijack a ship. An error in his programming means the robot constantly corrects himself after getting things wrong, but by the time he finally gets it right, ERIC realises everyone has already left.

Finally, a third post-credits scene plays after the Disney and Pixar logos appear on screen and shows Zurg floating through space. Earlier in the movie, it's revealed the villain is not a robot at all and is, in fact, a version of Buzz from the future who is determined to travel back to the past so he can make up for past mistakes and become a Space Ranger again.

His younger self defeats him and we're left to assume he died in the blast. However, when we find Zurg here, the light in his eyes comes back on, suggesting the evil Buzz is very much alive...

Lightyear 2, anyone?

when I saw that reveal, I was reminded of Harvey's "You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villian." line from the Dark Knight. At the end I wonder if Evil Buzz will suffer a head trauma so bad that he literally thinks he's now Zurg. also if there is a Lightyear 2, It'll be nice to a) see more of the Galactic Alliance and the Space Ranger Corps and 2) find out why Zurg becomes Emperor.
