A rumor did the rounds online yesterday which claimed that Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) had been cast as the female lead in upcoming The Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and it looks like there may have been some truth to it.

Although the source regularly pulls "rumors" out of thin air to make up stories for clicks, even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day, and Zegler herself appears to have confirmed her involvement.

The actress sent out the following Tweet shortly after the article was posted, and fans were quick to point out that the first letter of each word spells out the name of the character she's believed to be playing: Lucy Gray Baird.

This is highly unlikely to be some sort of coincidence, but we should find out for certain fairly soon.

In the novel, Lucy Gray was a tribute from District 12 who was assigned a young Coriolanus Snow (played by Tom Blythe in the movie) as mentor.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set for release on November 17, 2023.
