Following the release of the first trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Deadline has shared a slew of exciting new casting additions to the movie.
The trade notes that Paramount has tapped Peter Dinklage (as the voice of Scourge), Liza Koshy (as the voice of Arcee), John DiMaggio (as the voice of Stratosphere), David Sobolov (as the voice of Rhinox/Battletrap), Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (as the voice of Nightbird), Cristo Fernández (as the voice of Wheeljack), and Tobe Nwigwe (as the voice of Reek).
They now join an impressive ensemble that includes Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback, while Michelle Yeoh, Pete Davidson, Peter Cullen, and Ron Perlman will lend their voices to Airazor, Mirage, Optimus Prime, and Optimus Primal, respectively.
Dinklage is the biggest addition here, and we're sure you'll remember the Emmy-winner from his work in Game of Thrones and Avengers: Infinity War. Koshy is best known for the Boo! A Madea Halloween franchise, while DiMaggio is the voice of Bender in Futurama.
Sobolov previously voiced Blitzwing in Bumblebee, Rodriguez has starred in Luke Cage and tick, tick…Boom!, while Fernandez is best known for playing Dani Rojas in Ted Lasso. As for Nwigwe, he's a rapper who was nominated for Best New Artist at the 65th Grammy Awards.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts feels like a fresh start for this franchise, and a movie that's akin to Bumblebee on a far more epic scale. Finding the right balance between what we saw in that movie and Michael Bay's movies is key, and it looks like director Steven Caple Jr. has nailed that.
"Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a '90s globetrotting adventure with the Autobots and introduce a whole new breed of Transformer – the Maximals – to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons," reads the brief synopsis.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is set to be released in theatres on June 9, 2023.
