During today's Mando+ panel at Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California, the first footage from Ahsoka was shown to those lucky enough to be in attendance. You can watch it in the Tweet below (for now), but it confirms some big returns in the Disney+ series, including Hera Syndulla!
The Star Wars Rebels character was only shown from behind, but she's clearly been cast, and we can't help but wonder if this is who Mary Elizabeth Winstead will play in the series.
Her trusty droid, Chopper, was brought out on stage and also announced for the Ahsoka, while Natasha Liu has finally been confirmed as Sabine Wren. She can be spotted right at the end of the teaser looking at the mural she painted of Ezra Bridger and the team in the Star Wars Rebels finale. Elsewhere in the footage, we see Huyang, the droid played by David Tennant in The Clone Wars and Rebels.
It's pretty obvious we'll be taking a deep dive into Jedi lore in Ahsoka, and while Lucasfilm didn't announce who will play Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn in the show (a missed opportunity in our opinion), this sneak peek alone is more than enough to get us excited for what's to come. Hopefully, the footage will be officially released imminently, though Lucasfilm has yet to do that for The Mandalorian's season 3 trailer after it was similarly shared online by fans from Star Wars Celebration on Thursday.
Ahsoka is set to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2023.
