Earlier this week, we learned that Ahsoka has started shooting and Star Wars fans continue to wait with bated breath for news on who will play Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn. There are rumours about both characters out there, but nothing definitive, and we don't think this latest reported addition to the show's cast will be either one of them, unfortunately.
In a rumour shared by StarWarsNews.net, it's said that actor Matthew Law has landed a "big" role in the Star Wars Rebels follow-up. Despite being a relative unknown, the actor will perhaps be most recognisable to you for a four-episode stint in Marvel Television's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
As a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, Law played a small but memorable role in the show's sixth season.
Ahsoka has assembled an impressive cast alongside Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka Tano, including Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno, and Ray Stevenson (who it's believed will play Gilad Pellaeon, Thrawn's ally). Mena Massoud remains a fan-favourite pick for Ezra, but Lars Mikkelsen won't be back as Thrawn.
The anticipation is that the show will pick up where we left off with the title character in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, finally finishing the story Dave Filoni started in Star Wars Rebels. Hopefully, more details are going to be revealed at Star Wars Celebration later this month.
Ahsoka is set to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2023.
