As part of the Star Wars day festivities, Hasbro hosted a livestream revealing many of the new Star Wars toylines they have in the works. They kicked off their stream with the reveal of the new Star Wars: Retro Collection A New Hope Collectible Multipack, a package containing six retro Star Wars action figures inspired by the original toy line produced by Kenner in the late-70s.
The package will feature six of the 12 original 3.75-inch-scale toys inspired by A New Hope: Stormtrooper, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Chewbacca, and Han Solo. Sadly, R2-D2, C3PO, Ben Kenobi, Death Squad Commander, Sand People, and Jawa are not included in this retro re-release.
Each of the characters are individually blister carded, like they were in the first release, and the outer box is inspired by the classic Kenner packaging design with images of the characters that were used in the original packaging touched up and enhanced.
The Star Wars: Retro Collection A New Hope Collectible Multipack will cost $69.00, which breaks down to $11.50 for each figure. It will be available for pre-order on May 26, 2022 at Shop Disney and Hasbro Pulse. However, if you want to get your hands on it early, it will be available at Disneyland Resort on May 25, 2022. It will then be released at Walt Disney World Resort at a later date.
This isn't the first time Hasbro has re-released these beloved retro figures. Hasbro has a limited release of these individual figures in the past and while they response was "overwhelming," it was admittedly hard for fans to get their hands on them. Hopefully it won't be the same situation this time around.
