We're taking this with a pinch of salt, but Geekosity claims an adaptation of beloved novel Heir to the Empire is set to be the first Star Wars movie made exclusively for Disney+. It won't be a direct take on Timothy Zahn's book, but is expected to serve as a "climax" to the current era of TV shows that encompasses the likes of The Mandalorian and Ahsoka

It's been clear for a while now that these small screen stories are building to something, and Ahsoka promises to serve as a direct sequel to Star Wars Rebels. In that series, Ahsoka Tano's hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger looks set to continue, with Sabine Wren joining her.

The site was actually first to break the news of plans for Thrawn in live-action way back in 2019; later, the villain received a mention in The Mandalorian where it became clear he's back from wherever Ezra took him and pulling strings in the Galaxy Far, Far Away. Could he be tied to The First Order and Moff Gideon's apparent plot to clone a new body for Emperor Palpatine? Time will tell.

Here's the kicker, though; while this Heir to the Empire movie will make some changes to the books, it's said Mara Jade - a Jedi and Luke Skywalker's wife in the Expanded Universe - will appear.

We'll see if any of this pans out, but we're certainly intrigued if this really is the plan for Star Wars on Disney+. Making Thrawn the true big bad behind Gideon and those formidable Dark Troopers would certainly lead to what we can imagine being a formidable big bad for Din Djarin and company.

Mara Jade will be the most sought after and scrutinized female role since Wonder Woman. Good luck with that.

Now here's a plot twist: Have Jodie Comer play Mara Jade, and instead of Palpys clone it is infact Luke Skywalker who is the father of Rey, and with that the tradition of incestuous spit trading is kept alive and well within the Skywalkers.
With that in mind, there may very well be found the answer to why them Skywalkers are a bit slow. Anakin... not the sharpest knife in the box and how he at the same time could be a skilled pilot and build a protocol droid while acting like a spoiled teen with an intellect below average, succéed in Jedi training and manage to hook in a high level babe like Padme ( who is a former Queen and a senator and still falls for a guy who is behaving like a 13 year old, whining about his mentor holding him back and shit... not a good combination of dna for the future generation, and how the hell they managed to produce at least ONE mostly sane heir is a mystery. ), yet be manipulated by Palpy ald STILL be seen as The Chosen One is beyond all reason, and his son, Luke "I know there is still good in him, even though he killed kids and blew up a whole f***ing planet, lightsabered the hell outta both my mentor and my right hand, threatened to kill me if I didn't join his cult and tortured my sister" Skywalker, the man who despite having firsthand knowledge of the pitfalls of his bloodline deemed it to be an excellent choice to have his hotheaded idiot nephew attend his Jedi Academy, resulting in the destruction of his school and death of all of his students. Not a very bright bunch. And while we're at it, who the hell knows the real truth about Anakins conception? "Created by the midichlorians"? With the Skywalkers obvious pull towards incest, and the intellectual standard of The Chosen One, it would be a far more safe bet to assume that ol' Shmi had been a nasty gal in good old Appalachian style, producing the future Dark Lord of the Sith within family so to speak...
