There's a huge amount of excitement surrounding the release of Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+, but when will we get a first look at the limited series? While a poster has been released, no footage has been shown from the iconic Jedi Master's return, and with a rematch against Darth Vader planned, Star Wars fans are keen to see anything from this one.
Plenty of plot leaks have been surfacing online in recent weeks, of course, but we may now finally have some news on when the first trailer for Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere online.
According to Making Star Wars, "We had a source...they showed evidence from a Kenobi trailer. We have seen evidence that these are shots from the Kenobi trailer and, uh, nothing amazing, but the new costume, things you really realistically could not just go out and fake. And this person claims that the trailer will drop on the 9th...we had heard another rumor before that it was coming on the 10th. This other person comes with pictures going 'It’s on the 9th.'"
We'll see if this pans out, especially as trailers for these Star Wars TV shows have typically been released quite late. Plus, with Moon Knight arriving on Disney+ on March 30, common sense says the streamer would want to keep the focus on that series before promoting their next big show.
The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
The series also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader. Joining him and McGregor in the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor and Joby Harold, and is set to premiere on Disney+ on May 25.
