O'Shea Jackson Jr. is one of the more exciting casting additions to Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Making Star Wars has now shared some intriguing new details about his character. Apparently called "Roken," he'll be in multiple episodes and is described as one of the Disney+ series' breakout characters.
The site explains that Roken helps take "Ben" Kenobi and Princess Leia to Alderaan after the Jedi Master saves the youngster. The Captain of a large ship, he's a "first come, first serve" kind of person and needs to finish his charter before dropping the 10-year-old back home. However, they run into trouble, and it's said that Leia is ultimately captured by Reva during the show's third episode.
That forces Obi-Wan to break her out of the Sith Inquisitor fortress. It's there Leia is saved and the Jedi is badly burned during his battle with Darth Vader when the Sith Lord takes his revenge.
Roken steps in to rescue Obi-Wan and takes him to Jabiim where he's healed by the Force-sensitive group with ties to Saw Garrera's Partisans. Unfortunately, that group ultimately meets a violent end, but it sounds like Roken might be revealed as Saw's son (they're connected somehow, anyway).
Whether he has a future beyond Obi-Wan Kenobi remains to be seen, but it sounds like we can expect the Disney+ series to introduce a lot of new interesting characters to this Galaxy Far, Far Away. There are a lot of stories to be told between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, and with a few already told, it only makes sense for all of these different stories to start linking up with each other.
Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ with its first two episodes on May 27.
