Since Star Wars Rebels, Darth Vader's Sith Inquisitors have taken on an increasingly large role in comic books and video games. However, it will be in Obi-Wan Kenobi that the villainous group makes its live-action debut with Rupert Friend taking over from Jason Isaacs as the sinister Grand Inquisitor.
He won't be the only familiar face we see, though most of the spotlight is expected to be put on Moses Ingram's Reva. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Obi-Wan Kenobi director Deborah Chow talked about bringing the Sith Inquisitors to live-action for the first time and teased what fans can expect from them.
"Obviously, they're from Rebels, and it was really exciting to get to do them for the first time in live action. They're established characters and whatnot, so we brought them into the show and it's largely because they were out there. They're Jedi hunters, so they're under Vader and Palpatine, and they're basically dark side wielders that their primary purpose is to hunt down Jedi."
"I would say Dave Filoni was very pivotal for me, both in terms of The Mandalorian and in terms of the Star Wars of it all, as well as Jon Favreau," Chow continued, explaining what it's been like to tell this story in the midst of a very busy time in this Galaxy. "But Dave also was a touchstone, and remains a touchstone for me for this series. Anytime I have a question about canon, I go to him."
With these comments come new Obi-Wan Kenobi promo stills showing Ewan McGregor as the Jedi Master with his trusty lightsaber in hand. This isn't his "Ben" Kenobi outfit and is presumably what we'll see the hero wearing for the vast majority of this series when it launches on May 27.
