OBI-WAN KENOBI: Racist Fans Have Started Review Bombing The Disney+ Series On Rotten Tomatoes

After Lucasfilm and Ewan McGregor condemned the racist "fans" who trolled Obi-Wan Kenobi star Moses Ingram, the Disney+ series has become the subject of review bombing on Rotten Tomatoes. Check it out...

For whatever reason, there are a lot of Star Wars fans who have an issue with a Black actor playing one of Obi-Wan Kenobi's lead villains. We are, of course, referring to the heinous racist abuse aimed at Moses Ingram, and after Lucasfilm and Ewan McGregor spoke out in her defence, those same "fans" have found a new way to attack the show.

As of last night, Obi-Wan Kenobi's "Audience Score" on Rotten Tomatoes had sunk to a lowly 57%. It's since bounced back up to 61%, but one glance at th negative reviews point to trolls being responsible.

There are a fair few that appear valid in their criticisms, but others attack Ingram directly and make some baffling comments about the show (like it being unable to live up to the greatness of the prequels...seriously!). It's a bit sad really as there's just no need for any of this, but these abusive Star Wars fans, likely incels, clearly have a great deal of time on their hands.

Many Disney properties have been the victim of review bombing. Captain Marvel came under fire because Brie Larson didn't smile enough for some sexists, while Eternals was targeted due to its LGBTQIA+ representation. Pretty sad, right?

"Obi-Wan Kenobi is a showcase for the immense talents of Ewan McGregor and Vivien Lyra Blair, and after just two episodes, it's already on a par with The Mandalorian as the best Star Wars TV series yet," we said in our review of the show's first two episodes last month.

What is your honest review of Obi-Wan Kenobi three episodes in?

I have to ask, if someone has actual criticisms about the series, are you counting it as "racist"?

I happen to love the series, including Ms. Ingram's work. But I don't think that every critical comment should be dismissed as "racist" because she is black. That has become the standard view here in America, and it's wrong. I have a lot issues with social policy, but I am in no way a racist.

If there is genuine racist intent, then yes, eff them.

Otherwise, I can't say I've been blown away by what I've seen so far (as of right now, I'm placing my enthusiasm for Obi-Wan at the same level as Boba Fett).

This racist narrative that they are trying to spin is flat out hilarious! “News sites” started this drivel before the show was even available to the masses. For sure there are racist dumb dumbs out there who dislike it for those reasons, but they are the very tiny minority and their few comments are cherry-picked from thousands and thousands of tweets/comments. Throwing out the word racist/racism shouldn’t be used to prevent anything from being criticized. They’re just trying to cover for how garbage this show really is!
