It was seventeen years before the events of A New Hope and, more specifically, the Battle of Yavin that the group known as the Partisans helped hide Galen Erso and his family from the Empire. In Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, we'd learn what had become of Saw Garrera's Rebels, but while he had lost his way, his actions were still crucial in helping ensure the Death Star's eventual destruction.

We'll be spending more time with that group in Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Making Star Wars is reporting that Indira Varma's character will be crucial in better exploring their role in this Galaxy Far, Far Away.

The Game of Thrones alum's unnamed character is an Imperial Officer, but defects and is relocated by the Partisans after the Empire asks her to do something that, simply put, is a step too far. Kumail Nanjiani is also one of the Partisans, and this Disney+ series will better explore what sort of impact they had on the Galaxy beyond the fanaticism that eventually took hold of Clone Wars hero Saw.

The site notes that Saw won't appear here, though his Partisans (clearly spread across the entire Galaxy) are key to the story. As for Varma's character, it's said that she has a "profound" effect on Kenobi that eventually plays a role in his victory, so we are curious to find out what exactly that means.

Regardless, Lucasfilm is clearly doing a lot to drive home the fact these Partisans are important to what's happened in the Galaxy and that their actions, directly or otherwise, were ultimately crucial to the Empire's defeat. With that in mind, we could start seeing a lot more of these guys moving forward.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere on Disney+ with its first two episodes on May 27.
