Hayden Christensen has recently been doing the rounds to promote Obi-Wan Kenobi ahead of his long-anticipated return to this Galaxy Far, Far Away as Darth Vader. The actor last suited up in 2005's Revenge of the Sith, and with 10 years having passed in the Star Wars Universe since then, we clearly going to be spending time with a very different version of the Sith Lord.
JOE.ie asked Christensen what fans can expect from Vader, and it's sounding like what we see here will peel back a lot of the villain's hidden layers.
"Vader is at a pivotal time in his life. He's spent ten years now sort of imprisoned in this suit and in his new life, and how all of that has affected him," the actor explains. "There's a lot of great character exploration there. I don't want to give anything away, but there's really sort of a struggle of identity with Vader. I think that's at the core of who he is. And in this, we get to explore that."
"His pursuit of the Jedi and trying to find Obi-Wan Kenobi, it's a personal mission for him," he said of Vader's quest for revenge. "I'm excited for people to see it."
Of course, we anticipate seeing even more of Christensen as Darth Vader in next year's Ahsoka series. While it's currently unclear whether he'll appear in flashbacks or as a Force Ghost, watching Anakin share the screen with Ahsoka Tano in live-action is an incredibly exciting prospect for fans of The Clone Wars.
However, when Capital FM asked about the show, he responded: "I don't know, I can't really speak to the Ahsoka series. I don't know about that one." Seeing as Rosario Dawson has pretty much already confirmed that she'll co-star with Christensen in the show, we're not going to worry too much about this apparent denial!
Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres with its first two episodes this Friday, May 27.
