Daisy Ridley's life changed forever when she was chosen to play Rey in the Star Wars franchise, and the unknown actress quickly became a household name. Six years ago, Ridley deleted her Instagram account (losing more than 2 million followers) due to what she felt was pressure to share her life online, going so far to say she'd cut her use of social media off "like a Skywalker limb."
Since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was released at the end of 2019, Ridley has appeared in movies like Murder on the Orient Express, Chaos Walking, and Netflix's The Bubble, while she remains a fan-favourite choice to take on the role of Spider-Woman in Sony's Marvel Universe.
The actress clearly has a bright future ahead outside of that Galaxy Far, Far Away, and has now made a surprise return to Instagram with a couple of fun posts. You can check those out below.
Ridley isn't the first Star Wars actor to leave social media due to the negative implications platforms such as Instagram and Twitter can have. Kelly Marie Tran deleted her accounts after months of harassment, though it's unclear whether abuse from Star Wars fans contributed to Ridley's decision.
Either way, it's great to see her back and we look forward to following Ridley's career and life. If these first posts are any indication, the actress is just looking to have fun, so here's hoping trolls can resist the temptation to pester the British actress about the time she spent playing Rey in the Star Wars sequels.
