Last week's episode of Andor delivered more surprises for fans, though an appearance from Andy Serkis was by far the biggest. The Venom: Let There Be Carnage director played Five-Two-D Unit Manager Kino Loy after previously bringing Supreme Leader Snoke to life in the Star Wars sequels.
This isn't an origin story for the villain, though, and it's been confirmed Loy isn't tied to the fallen First Order leader in any way. After all, it would be a stretch for the Disney+ series to somehow reveal this prisoner is, in fact, the basis for Emperor Palpatine's eventual Snoke clone (thought to be a failed version of himself the villain was able to puppet through the Force).
Serkis wasn't the only surprise cameo in Andor, however. Forest Whitaker also returned as his Rogue One: A Star Wars Story character, Saw Gerrera, and both he and Serkis are spotlighted on the posters below.
Andor, a spy thriller from Lucasfilm filmed over two 12-episode seasons, takes place five years before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The era is filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.
The show presents Star Wars from a different perspective, focusing on everyday people whose lives are affected by the Empire. The decisions they make have real consequences, and the stakes for them - and the Galaxy - couldn’t be higher.
Diego Luna returns as Cassian Andor and is joined by cast members Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller and Fiona Shaw. The executive producers are Kathleen Kennedy, Tony Gilroy, Sanne Wohlenberg, Diego Luna and Michelle Rejwan. Tony Gilroy is also the creator and showrunner.
The first eight episodes of Andor are now streaming on Disney+, while the ninth arrives this Wednesday, November 2. Check out the two new character posters below:
