A new 30-second teaser for Andor has been released, and it offers an exciting glimpse at what lies ahead for Cassian Andor when he decides to fight back against the evil Empire. There's lots of new footage here, and we'd argue that it does a better job of selling the series than the somewhat reserved first trailer we got earlier this year.

During this year's Star Wars Celebration, it was actually revealed that Lucasfilm has shot 12 episodes of Andor, with plans for a second season (also consisting of 12 episodes) made official.

The first 12 will take place 5 years before the events of Rogue One, with the second lot set during the subsequent 4. Each of those years will get three episodes will be devoted to them, and it's been reported that the finale will take us straight into Cassian's first scene in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

24 episodes for this prequel series is certainly ambitious, but it sounds like the plan is to explore this era in a way that hasn't been done before. Between that and the chance to follow the title character's story, we can't help but be intrigued by where this is going.

Andor will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.

Diego Luna returns as Cassian Andor and is joined by cast members Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough and Kyle Soller. The show premieres on Disney+ on August 31.
