In recent weeks, we've started hearing some intriguing new pieces of information about Star Wars: The Acolyte. It's no secret that the series is set hundreds of years before The Phantom Menace (during "The High Republic Era," to be exact), though that's prompted many fans to wonder what the show is actually going to add to this Galaxy Far, Far Away.
Well, among those new details is the fact a young Darth Plagueis is likely to factor into the series. As Emperor Palpatine's Master, the character has become the stuff of legends since his demise was first mentioned in Revenge of the Sith. A pre-Disney era novel revealed how he recruited Palpatine and eventually died at his hands, but an origin story will be welcomed.
Ultimately, hardcore fans needed a reason to follow the new characters and locations that will be introduced in The Acolyte, so how better to reel them in than with a big-name villain like Plagueis?
Bespin Bulletin has now shared news on some concept art that's supposedly doing the rounds showing a planet with "snow-covered mountains alongside tall cities which have long tentacle-like features and bell-shaped [rooves]." This is believed to be Scipio, the homeworld of the Muun.
Why is that significant? Well, Plagueis is a Muun.
It's definitely sounding like the Sith Lord will play a supporting role in this series, offering fans a glimpse into his own Dark Side journey hundreds of years before he took Palpatine under his wing. The aforementioned novel revealed that Darth Sidious plied his Master with alcohol before using Force Lightning to kill the elderly Muun.
While we don't necessarily anticipate seeing that play out, it should still be fun to learn more about this villain and his place in the Galaxy...especially as he too was fascinated with extending his life, something we know Palpatine achieved through cloning...
