Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Kurt Russell's last television role in 1977 when he appeared in the original Hawaii Five-0. Now, though, he's set to return to the small screen alongside his son, Wyatt Russell (The Falcon and The Winter Soldier) in Apple TV+ Legendary's upcoming MonsterVerse TV series.
There's no word on who either actor will star as, though we can't help but wonder if the father and son will play, well, father and son. Another possibility is that Wyatt will portray a younger version of his dad's character in flashbacks that better explore Monarch and this world.
Regardless, the duo joins an impressive ensemble that includes Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski.
The still-untitled project takes place in the aftermath of "the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real," with the focus put on "one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch."
Legendary Television is producing this MonsterVerse TV series that was co-created by Chris Black (Star Trek: Enterprise) and Matt Fraction (Hawkeye), with the former serving as showrunner. WandaVision's Matt Shakman will direct the first two episodes and serve as an executive producer.
