Oh boy!

We're not sure how well this news is going to go over with fans of the classic sci-fi comedy series, but NBC's Quantum Leap revival is now officially a go, having been given a series order at the network

The original Quantum Leap ran from 1989 to 1993, and starred Scott Bakula as as Dr. Sam Beckett, a physicist who created a time machine that allowed the user to travel through time within their own lifetime and "leap" into different bodies. He was joined on his adventures by the late Dean Stockwell as the fan-favorite Admiral Al Calavicci.

This new series won't be a full reboot, however, and will actually focus on "a new team that has been assembled to restart the Quantum Leap project in the hopes of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it 30 years since Dr. Sam Beckett stepped into the accelerator and vanished."

Raymond Lee will star as new protagonist Dr. Ben Seong (get a first look below), and he'll be joined by Caitlin Bassett, Ernie Hudson, Mason Alexander Park, and Nanrisa Lee. Bakula was said to be in negotiations to reprise his role, but as of right now, he doesn't appear to be involved.
