Dune was released simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max during the pandemic, a move which almost guaranteed the movie wouldn't earn the money needed to guarantee a sequel.
Thankfully, even with the odds stacked against it, an impressive $400+ million haul at the worldwide box office and rave reviews (not to mention serious awards attention) ensured Warner Bros. would finish the story, and we now have a new trailer for this November's Dune: Part Two.
There's a lot to unpack in this latest sneak peek, including a first look at key returning characters and a number of new ones such as Christopher Walken's Shaddam IV. Throw in some big reunions and heaps of epic action, and it's clear those of you who felt the first instalment was perhaps a little slow will walk away happy after watching the sequel.
With war raging on Arrakis, the sci-fi franchise is finally about to delve into some of the bigger moments from the book and all signs point to this being a worthy adaptation. Something tells us watching this and the first chapter back-to-back will be the ultimate watching experience down the line!
The saga continues in award-winning filmmaker Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two, the next chapter of Frank Herbert's celebrated novel Dune, with an expanded all-star international ensemble cast.
"Dune: Part Two: will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family," reads the synopsis. "Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee."
New and returning stars include Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet), Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Léa Seydoux, with Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem.
Dune: Part Two will be released exclusively in theaters on November 3.
