Earlier this year, Dune: Part Two star Rebecca Ferguson revealed that she refused to work with a former co-star after they exploded in anger while shooting a scene, and, as you might expect, her comments prompted a lot of speculation.
While being interviewed for the Reign with Josh Smith podcast, Ferguson was asked when she feels she's been "proudest of using her own voice." The Mission: Impossible actress then recalled working with an "absolute idiot" who grew frustrated while filming a scene and took it out on her by "screaming" and saying, "aren't you supposed to be an actor?"
The next day, Ferguson told the individual to "F-off," and made it clear to producers that she would only act in a scene with them if they turned around so she could see the back of their head.
During a follow-up interview, Ferguson admitted that she was “not expecting” this reaction.
“Number one, yes, I kind of enjoyed the grab,” Ferguson tells SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show. “But what I realized even at the age that I am now is it doesn’t matter. I am me. I definitely think I’m much more open. I also know where my boundaries are. But the point of the interview wasn’t about finding the person — of course, people will be interested. But I was excited about the question, which was a very good question by [Josh Smith]. Because the point was: Is there a point in your career where you were treated in a way where you changed your decision on — this is how I formulated it in myself — where you want change, or you will not accept it? And it was such a clear moment for me working with this person.”
Ferguson still hasn't named the individual she was referring to, but she did receive phone calls from former co-stars who didn't seem particularly happy about suspicion falling on them!
“But I got phone calls from amazing co-stars who I’ve worked with going, ‘You understand what you’ve done, right?’” Ferguson continued. “And I was like, ‘Oh my God. No, I didn’t think.’ I mean, it’s not my responsibility, to be honest. I don’t really care. You know, ‘You’re great, but my story is my story, and if you’re a good person, then don’t worry about it.’”
Says it all, really! Why worry if you weren't the person she was calling out?
This is only going to reignite speculation, of course, so be sure to share your thoughts/guesses in the comments section.
