Halo fans have a lot to be excited about. Halo Studios has officially revealed their next big lore drop, Halo: Edge of Dawn, a brand-new novel by acclaimed author Kelly Gay. Known for her previous work on The Rubicon Protocol, Gay returns to the Halo universe with a story that dives directly into the aftermath of Halo Infinite.
Set in the year 2560, Edge of Dawn sees the Master Chief continuing the fight on Zeta Halo after defeating War Chief Escharum and disrupting the Banished’s leadership structure. Joined by his new AI companion and his loyal pilot Fernando Esparza, the Chief embarks on a mission to locate and regroup with surviving UNSC forces scattered across the ring.
The plot thickens with the introduction of a young combat medic imprisoned and tortured by the Banished and the Harbinger who may hold vital knowledge about the ring’s ancient secrets. However, their journey is far from safe. Lurking in the shadows is Jega ‘Rdomnai, a deadly Sangheili blademaster bent on vengeance. His pursuit of the Chief adds a layer of personal danger to a mission already fraught with mystery and loss.
Fans of earlier Halo novels may find Edge of Dawn reminiscent of Halo: First Strike, which bridged the events between Combat Evolved and Halo 2. This new book aims to fill a similar narrative gap while enriching the lore introduced in Halo Infinite.
Expect more details about the release of Edge of Dawn later this year, as Halo Studios continues to expand the universe with new and compelling works of fiction.
Waypoint Chronicles - Volume One Arrives in 2026
In other Halo literary news, fans are finally getting a long-requested release. Halo: Waypoint Chronicles - Volume One will arrive in 2026, compiling more than thirty short stories into one large physical collection for the first time.
Since launching in 2022 with a short marking the tenth anniversary of Halo 4, the Waypoint Chronicles have explored forgotten corners of the Halo universe. These tales support Halo Infinite’s seasonal narratives, revisit legendary events, and dive into characters and factions both familiar and obscure.
The collection includes 24 previously released digital stories, 10 all-new tales exclusive to the book, and dozens of lore-rich vignettes and intel entries tied to the games. From the age of the Forerunners to the battles between the UNSC and the Banished, this anthology spans centuries of Halo storytelling.
